Posted: Wed Apr 23, 2025 2:27 pm
Various Wyoming ARES groups are getting together to test radio communications using Near Vertical Incidence Skywave (NVIS) propagation.
Date: Saturday, 10 May 2025
Time: 8:00 AM to 12 Noon, MDT
Frequencies:
3.923.5 MHz (80m)
5.357.0 MHz (60M, Channel 5)
7.260.0 MHz (40m)
Mode: SSB
Purpose: A specific day and time frame for all amateurs and specifically emergency communications
team members to get on the air and experiment with NVIS (Near Vertical Incidence Skywave)
antenna configurations. With a focus on local and regional contacts as would be expected in an
emergency.
The goal is to provide operators around the state of WY and surrounding areas with a large
group of operators to gather contact distances and signal reports from their NVIS station.
