January 2017 VE Test Session Date

Just a reminder to anyone interested in testing for their first Amateur Radio license, or looking to upgrade to a higher license. The Great Falls VE Test Session for January 2017 will be on Tuesday, 10 January 2017 at 7:00 PM.

Background information: The Great Falls VE Test Session always follows the monthly meeting of the Great Falls Area Amateur Radio Club (GFAARC). The GFAARC club meeting nights are usually the first Monday of the month - unless that Monday happens to be a holiday. In that situation, the meeting night is postponed until the following Monday. Since the VE Test Session tracks the monthly meeting night, the test session would always be the Tuesday following the Monday meeting.

Because this year the first Monday of the month, 2 January 2017, is a holiday, the monthly GFAARC meeting is postponed until the following Monday, 9 January 2017. This in turn puts the January VE Test Session on Tuesday night, 10 January 2017.

But wait, there's more! As is GFAARC tradition, we are having a Winter Social Dinner in place of the January club meeting. The Winter Social will be held on Saturday evening, 7 January 2017. As a result, there is no January club meeting on 9 January 2017. However, because the VE Test Session always tracks the monthly meeting, the test session for January will be on Tuesday, 10 January 2017.

Advance reservations are not required, but we really prefer folks tell us that they intend to test on a certain date so we know how many persons to expect. Advance notice is especially recommended for those travelling to Great Falls from out of town to attend a test session.
